CAMERON PEARCE

Welcome to a glimpse into my chaotic mind !

Currently working as a Supervisor and Diamond Specialist for ‘Pandora’, means I spend most of my time creating new displays and altering them to the highest of standards.

As your reading this, I’m probably setting up a new display… or cleaning one…

  • Displaying Practical Experiments in College, to Creating Displays in Retail

Experimental Applications

Practicing using unconventional resources to create realistic texture

‘Disruption’ College Project

This is an experiment using fullers earth, an unconventional product to create a cracked, stone like texture.

Once dried, the product cracks and flakes off.

Taking inspiration from gargoyles and old buildings, I was able to imitate man made and natural textures

Fullers Earth Texture Experiment

Painting Practice – Makeup Application

Using an airbrush I created a mottled blend of colour to imitate the grey scale of cracked stone.

Adding in darker undertones to deepen cracks to texturise, and highlighting to further enhance

Water Colour Practice

Using watercolour I painted a profile exploring depth using colour to contour the face, providing me with knowledge for practical experiments in college.

In doing so, I was able to create different tonalities in skin colour for realism, discovering how hues of colour can affect the tones of skin. In this case, I used more blue undertones to cool down the skin.

Visual Merchandising

Pandora

Working as a Supervisor for ‘Pandora’ I spend a lot of my time creating new and innovative displays that are striking to the customer. Interior merchandising is an extremely important part in increasing footfall for new customers ultimately increasing sales.

This is our ‘New Arrivals’ display, crafted from a Global guideline that all stores must follow.

It’s my job to replicate the guideline physically in the display windows, with the main goal to be that the new collection of product is displayed to perfection. This includes : ensuring the angle of the lighting is in direct contact with the product, the product is level with each other and that the props are positioned off set to the lighting to enhance the display.

For this particular cabinet, I made the decision to add an extra earring stand on the right side of the visual photo. This went against the guideline, however, by displaying earrings in a stacked setting, this increases the likelihood of customers buying more than one pair, ultimately benefiting the store sales targets and the company as a whole.

I chose to put the ‘Red Heart Studs’ on a single stand as well as on the extra earring prop, to show a variety of styling ideas customers can achieve.

PROJECT NEXT – DISPLAY ZONING

Creating Displays Tailored to Customer Interests and Shopping Trends

This display was to ‘Story Tell’ our jewellery to the customers showing that there’s something for every occasion.

  • Top Cab – Spiritual and Celestial
  • Middle Cab – Rose Gold Floral
  • Bottom Left Cab – The Perfect Wedding Day
  • Bottom Right Cab – Styling Hoop Earrings

I kept this cabinet quite simplistic compared to the others, considering overall appearance as well as the customers, directing it to consumers who prefer dainty jewellery pieces.

Starting with Charm bracelets to display charms, leading into alternative ways of wearing charms – in this case on hoop earrings, showing how customers can change their jewellery style by just swapping charms from one place to another.

Tailoring this to customers who prefer rose gold over other metal preferences leads to a higher price point of sales, meaning that I had to make careful considerations when creating the displays in order to show that there’s something for everyone, thus being the only cabinet that consists of rose gold. All other cabinets mostly consist of only sterling – being of a lover price point meaning there’s something for every customers budget.

PROJECT NEXT

On reflection, I would add in a pink base board to match the pink back board tying in with the rose gold theme for an added pop of colour creating a striking display subtly. Especially as its the middle cab, this would ad emphasis on the whole display.

Spare Room Renovation

  • Creating a Modern and Inviting Space

Work in Progress…

– Room Foundations
– Wall Panelling Preparations

Plastering Walls

Stripping old wall paper and re plastering for a fresh start. We decided on removing a fireplace from the chimney breast for a blank canvas. Despite being quite flush to the wall, this took up a lot of wall space, meaning storage and decor can be utilised in this area.

Wall Panelling

To add a modern feel, we decided on adding in wall paneling for a modern yet subtle outcome. Working with a joiner, we kept the panelled squares as large as possible to contradict the smallness of the room, keeping the space open and spacious looking.

Wall Panelling

Once all the framework is complete, painting prep-work can be started. The client is wanting a cottage-like feel, maintaining modernism. Light coloured painted walls accented with natural woods and finishes, fusing both contemporary and ‘vintage’. https://pin.it/4NMYRQHmL < link to client inspo.
